Day 1 Sat., Mar. 2 | Departure & Arrival in Lima

Arrive in Lima and transfer to your hotel, accompanied by a welcome representative.

Overnight in Lima.

Day 2 Sun., Mar. 3 | Iquitos & Embarkation

Fly to Iquitos, a colorful and dynamic city with a captivating history. Enjoy a scenic drive to Nauta for cruise embarkation. The voyage starts at the confluence of the Marañón and Ucayali rivers. Enjoy an afternoon excursion searching for wildlife in the communal Yanayacu de Yacapana commune. Observe the largest water plant in the world, birds, lizards, sloths, pink dolphins, caimans, capybaras, and more. (B,D)

Day 3 Mon., Mar. 4 | Vista Alegre Village

Spend the morning observing Amazonian bird species, like parrots and macaws. Visit the Vista Alegre Village and learn about its local native community and its traditions. Nearby, explore a local butterfly farm. Sail along the Nauta Creek and fish for piranhas using traditional Peruvian techniques. (B,L,D)

Day 4 Tue., Mar. 5 | Maryali River & Pahuachiro

Head out on an early morning boat trip to catch a glimpse of native birds before exploring the Pahuachiro area, a gem of the Amazon. Walk rainforest trails, full of countless exotic species. Witness a variety of gigantic trees, known by the locals as “Avatar.” (B,L,D)

Day 5 Wed., Mar. 6 | Pacaya Samiria National Reserve

Take a fun motorcycle cab ride to the local city market. Peruse handicrafts and local foods. Continue to the Sapi Sapi Lagoon, one the best-known breeding grounds of paiches, which is a giant river fish. Then, head to the “Jungle of Mirrors,” a breathtaking area where sky and calm waters converge. This is the ideal place for spotting toucans, iguanas, monkeys, and more! (B,L,D)

Day 6 Thu., Mar. 7 | Pacaya Samaria National Reserve

Enjoy a morning picnic breakfast on the Yanayacu de Pucate River, one of the most protected and preserved areas of the reserve. Walkthrough the rainforest towards an area of suspension bridges, a set of structures outstretched high in the trees. The elevated perspective offers the perfect way to admire the rich emerald hue of the jungle. Then, meet the shaman of San Regis. Learn about his rituals, healing, and cosmovision. Participate in protecting the environment during a tree-planting ceremony. (B,L,D)

Day 7 Fri., Mar. 8 | Pacaya Samiria National Reserve

Head for the black water of San José de Zarapanga for piranha fishing. Visit Puerto Prado and learn about the villager’s traditions and ancestral practices. Participate in a culinary demonstration and taste the local flavors. Behold the largest water lily in the world before bidding your cruise ship goodbye. (B,L,D)

Day 8 Sat., Mar. 9 | Disembarkation & Iquitos

Disembark and travel to Iquitos. Visit the Amazon Rescue Center (CREA), where biologists and volunteers care for manatees, largely orphaned calves. Not only do visitors have the chance to participate in feeding the calves, but they can also rest easy knowing that these babies will be released back into the wild once ready. (B)

Day 9 Sun., Mar. 10 | Lima

Explore Lima and its majestic past, including the pre-Latino, colonial, and contemporary periods. Lima has known several pre-Columbian cultures dating back thousands of years, but Lima was also part of the Inca Empire. (B)

DAY 9, Sun., Mar. 10 | Cusco
Visit the ancient capital of the Inca empire, Cusco, considered one of the most beautiful cities in South America. Soak in the magic of tradition, history, and Inca legends. Visit the Cusco Cathedral and Koricancha, the most important temple of the Incan Empire. Look out over the vast city from lookout points within the ruins. (B)

DAY 10, Mon., Mar. 11 | Sacred Valley of the Incas
Head to the Sacred Valley with a stop at Caccacollo along the way. This local community displays artisan weaving skills. Then, stop in Pisaq, once an important Incan religious center. Explore the giant Inca fortress, Ollantaytambo, the scene of a famous battle. Then, take a train to Aguas Calientes, where the official journey to Machu Picchu begins. (B,L)

DAY 11, Tue., Mar. 12 | Machu Picchu
Venture to the “Lost City of the Incas” – Machu Picchu. Partly due to its ingenious architecture and unique location in the heart of tropical vegetation, this magical place evokes mystery and admiration. The sunrise is breathtaking. Climb the Huayna Picchu mountain (optional). (B,D)
